A software process assessment is the means whereby
organizations can identify and assess their strengths, weaknesses,
existing improvement activities, and key areas for further
improvement. It is carried out by an internal or external software process expert who investigates
and evaluates the current processes against a reference model.
Based on the results from this investigation the organisation can
determine the current state of their software process and
this allows for the development of action plans to facilitate future
improvement [SEI]. |
