Event acquisition refers to the mechanism that has been used to collect runtime events for the monitoring process. In case of HCI monitoring runtime event stream is produced by users interacting with the system and the monitoring process may collect the events through various means including (i) by instrumenting the application or applying an adapter to the application the user is interacting with (ii) by physical sensors used to collect user activities (e.g. movement of a user in a room, eye gaze of user) (iii) by capturing from the interactions a user makes through the input devices of the system (e.g. keyboard typing, or mouse click).
