The virtual team has been described as the core
building block of the virtual organisation. A traditional team is
defined as a social group of individuals who are collocated and
interdependent in their tasks. The group undertake and coordinate
their activities to achieve common goals and share responsibility for outcomes.
Virtual teams have the same goals and objectives as traditional teams and
interact through interdependent tasks, but operate across time,
geographical location (and sometimes) organisational boundaries and are
linked by communication technologies. They normally operate in a
multicultural and multilingual environment. Virtual software teams
focus on the development and maintenance of software products and
artefacts. |
