Self-* is called one or more properties of a computing system that represent reflexive actions, e.g. self-healing, self-optimising, etc. (Currently there are over 20 various self-* terms) [CD-IA-1.1.1] [PO-JRA-2.3.1] {SYN: Selfware}

Self-adaptive software is required to monitor itself and its context, detect significant changes, decide how to react, and act to execute such decisions. These processes depend on adaptation properties (called self-* properties), domain characteristics (context information or models), and preferences of stakeholders. [Salehie & Tahvildari 2009]
