S-Cube PostDoc Position (paluno, Univ. Duisburg-Essen)

The future Internet is expected to emerge as a critical socio-economic infrastructure incorporating a wide range of technologies through the convergence of IT, telecommunications, and content. Software and services will play a key role to enable that convergence.

 Paluno - The Ruhr Institute for Software Technology - provides the software and service research experience and the competencies needed to address the challenges faced in the future converged Internet.

Paluno (http://www.paluno.de) is located at the University of Duisburg-Essen (http://www.uni-due.de), being one of the ten largest universities of Germany with about 30,000 enrolled students and

3,400 academic and non-academic staff.

Job Description

We are seeking a post-doctoral researcher to strengthen the service engineering competence area of Paluno. Successful applicants will pursue their research in the context of S-Cube, the European FP7 Network of Excellence on software, services and systems (http://www.s-cube-network.eu).

S-Cube is coordinated by the University of Duisburg-Essen. The network provides an excellent opportunity to work in an international environment and to collaborate with high-profile researchers.

S-Cube brings together over 70 researchers and over 50 Ph.D. students from 16 major universities and research institutes from eleven European countries.

As member of Paluno, you will be involved in developing and validating innovative service engineering methods and techniques which a focus in one of the following areas:

- Engineering and design of service-based systems

- Adaptation and evolution of service-based systems

- Quality assurance (testing, verification) for services and

  service-based systems

You will carry out the following essential tasks:

- Research (including coordination of research activities and

  supervision of junior researchers)

- Publication and presentation of research results at national and

  international scientific conferences

- Preparing proposals for follow-up research projects

- Teaching specialised courses

The salary will be approx. 42,000 to 47,000 EUR per year.

 

Candidate Profile

To apply for the position, you should hold a PhD degree or complete your PhD within the next three months. Ideally, you will have a degree in the area of software engineering, service engineering, computer science, applied computer science, or systems engineering.

In addition, good communication and writing skills in English are required. Knowledge of German is preferred but not required.

Candidates will work in a collaborative environment with a strong commitment to achieving research excellence. Experience of working in international research projects is preferred but not required.
