University of Duisburg-Essen: Open PhD Position

We are looking for qualified persons with a high dedication to research to support our research projects in the area of service-oriented computing. The announced position of a research assistant (TV-L 13 salary) is offered, initially, for two years and can be prolonged for another three years. The position provides the opportunity to pursue a PhD in software engineering.
Your Occupation:
As a member of our research team, you will be directly involved in the development of innovative methods and techniques for the engineering of complex software systems. You will also participate in the evaluation of these methods with our industrial partners. With the support of experienced team members, you will publish your research results at internationally renowned scientific conferences and journals. You use your expert knowledge to support and/or supervise university courses on software and systems engineering. You get the opportunity to specialise, for instance, on one of the following topics in the area of requirements engineering:
- Engineering of self-adaptive service-based systems
- Requirements engineering for service-based systems

Reference architectures for service-based systems
-
Quality assurance of service-based system
Your PhD in your area of specialisation will document the outstanding skills and expert knowledge obtained during your occupation as a research assistant and will qualify you for a career in research as well as in industry.
Your Profile:
You have recently received or will shortly receive a university degree in computer science, information systems, applied computer science, or a related area, or you already have gained experience in software or systems engineering after receiving your degree.
You offer a quick perception and good analytical and communication skills. You enjoy delving into complex technical problems as well as team work. You find it appealing to collaborate with researchers and developers in a European or international setting. Familiarity with one of the following areas is desired but not a prerequisite: service-oriented architecture (SOA), web services, autonomic computing, adaptive systems.
