Community Outreach (WP-SoE-1.2)

by Maike Uhlig last modified Sep 16, 2009 11:51

Objectives

Community outreach will focus on the spread of research outcomes, innovation and knowledge orientation across the wider scientific community, special subsections of the industry, and user communities, and consider opportunities of applying S-Cube to novel or emerging application fields.

This workpackage entails a programme of dissemination activities designed to spread excellence both inside and outside the NoE and discuss innovation and work in progress. The four main target groups for dissemination activities are:

  • scientists,
  • industry,
  • policy makers, and
  • end-user communities.

Particular attention will be devoted to a description of necessary resources, including specialised expertise, and the target audience, or beneficiaries who will derive benefit from the community outreach task. To achieve this, joint ventures between researchers involved in S-Cube will be undertaken ensuring that outputs are generated that target each of these groups individually.

This workpackage will also concentrate on a shared S-Cube dissemination plan including, among other things, coordinated publications in scientific journals, special issues in scientific journals, publication of a series of books and scientific anthologies on Software Services and Systems, organization of and participation in topic-related workshops/seminars and exhibitions, presentation of best-practice models by implementing research results into pilot business cases and prototype systems.

The detailed objectives of this workpackage are summarised as follows:

  • Establish and maintain an S-Cube Web portal to ensure scientific and general audience dissemination.
  • Promote the co-authoring of books and scientific papers for journals, books, conferences, and workshops and the like, as well as articles for technical magazines.
  • Spread excellence to competence centres, chambers of commerce, industry associations, companies as well as end-users.
  • Support the creation of alliances between network members and other research communities and EU projects by making their work more transparent to each other and identify synergies.
  • Promote and set up a European-wide professional learning society in the area of Software Services and Systems.

Coordination

This activity (WP-SoE-1.2) is coordinated by University of Crete.
